While I was walking into work from Grand Central I passed a businessman whose face was twitching. His eyebrows would twitch, is lips would pucker then loosen then smile. I have seem this before in people I know, and they can’t control it. I was thinking, what if these uncontrollable actions were actually caused by some sort of parasite. A bug or something that gained control of their face. It would be kind of scary if that were the case (it isn’t).

But my mind - well, my thoughts - brought me to other conclusions. Just because once I get an idea in my head I cannot drop it for the life of me. What if our brain were that parasite. Different brains react differently. This is something that we can easily tell through brain patterns and the chemicals flowing through our body. Each brain is distinct. What if the brain were a symbiotic parasitic lifeform, and the spine were its tail. It is controlling our bodies and all of our movements. It retains control and supresses our body by releasing endorphins and hormones.

It was something that wasn’t originally in our bodies, but during the emergence of species, the brains discovered it would be safest for them to take over the bodies of the new formed species. The offspring of the brains are placed into the young of each species as they are first growing in the womb/egg. We could survive without our brains, but we have no way to remove the brains except for during birth as they are finding their way into our young. This is because as soon as they establish a spine to hook into our nervous system, the brains have complete control, and killing the brain means killing the person and/or animal.

The thing is, some of our young are able to overcome their brain in the womb. But when they are born, they are presumed dead because all bodily functions are subdued to the psychic process within us naturally - of course our brains suppress this as much as possible. Hearts don’t beat because blood is unnecessary, eating is unnecessary, breathing is unnecessary. That’s because our bodies have been evolving even as the brains have had control in an attempt to override the brains and regain control once they had enough power. So we burry these newborns thinking they are dead and they are left to live inside coffins until they can find their way out.

So, now this has become thoroughly disturbing I think I’ll stop. I just wanted to pretend brains are parasites. I guess all those Sci-Fi movies and books that have a large brain as some sort of wise sage may have encouraged this train of thought. Zombies + brain aliens I guess. Whatever! I hope you enjoyed the little divergence into this thought process.
